African Tweeters

1-30-12

Hello Everyone!

I hope you found the last post to be informative and opened your eyes to the wonders of Kenya!

I've conducted some research and found an article that I found incredibly interesting, especially in the given times. With the modern advancements in social media spreading all over the world, it is encouraging to view this spread in many different areas of the globe, including Kenya. According to the Associated Press, the expansion of Twitter in Kenya is proving to be an aid in the social linking tools throughout the nation and the rest of the world. Many Kenyans are increasing their usage of Twitter and other social media websites on Blackberrys and iPhones.

"The research, called “How Africa Tweets,” found Twitter is helping form new links within Africa." The ongoing and interacting tweets over the virtual socializing website allow Kenyans to express their viewpoints on the going-ons all over the continent and make connections with other tweeters who share their concerns and opinions. "More than 80 percent of those polled said they mainly used it for communicating with friends, 68 percent said they use it to monitor news and 22 percent to search for jobs." There are many different opportunities when it comes to the use of Twitter and the people of Kenya seem to be taking advantage of that.

I believe this is an incredibly invigorating and essential aspect to the advancement of the country. With the rest of the world taking part in more active social media websites, it is very inspiring to notice that Kenya is spreading its impact all over the world. This advancement will allow more prominent ties to be made and will encourage interaction between Kenya and other areas in the world. I am hopeful that this impact will continue to increase and allow Kenyans to make greater connections.
